blog rationale
I have aimed my short story at the people who love to watch the olympics and also to upcoming athletes or people who want to be in the olympics when they grow up.
I choose this audience for my story because they are the kind of people who would want to read about upcoming stars or read about one of the most hyped up athletes in the world. Since it's about an upcoming star the kids who want to be athletes when they grow up would read this and if it is about one of the biggest star, olympic fans would read this story.
This relates to my mission statement which is "How does doping affect the image of the olympics?" and if a huge upcoming star gets caught doping, people who watched him would stop, and everyone on twitter, facebook, etc. would post about this saying how bad the olympics is, meaning less people will watch it.
My story uses pathos, because people would get emotional if their idol, country representative or friend betrays them for their own benefit. It make the country look bad but people would be devastated because they got stabbed in the back and the person they admired, looked up to turned out to be bad and mean nothing to them anymore.
I find my story not so convincing because when it comes to a huge event such as the olympics, there would be really good doctors and the chances of them mixing two results would probably be very unlikely. If I had more time and a bigger word limit I would probably try to make it more descriptive.
If I had been targeting the current athletes my message would have to change to their life and how it can ruin everything they have instead of making them look bad because if they got caught they wouldn't only look bad, but lose nearly everything they own especially their pride and dignity.
