The draft
If the olympics come every 4 years, then why would we ruin them? Some people might not care about the olympics, but lots of people do. Athletes that take performance enhancing drugs are the reason it’s being ruined but we can try to fix this by making the olympic rules stricter. How can we do that? We, us the fans, can protest for this, text about it over all the social media platforms. Now I understand that this may not be the best solution, but it is a solution and it is one we can try to achieve if worked together. If we don’t fix this, the olympics will slowly get ruined until no one watches it and for the olympics fans, this is the worst thing that can happen.
I love the olympics, but I am not really a fan but that doesn’t mean that I want it to be ruined. For this topic we have to think from a fans point of view and be selfless because only working together can we fix this. This is very important to you sport loving fans because if we get the olympics on every 4 years than we will enjoy it but if everyone that is competing uses performing enhancing drugs, than it might as well be on every 1 hour because no one would care about, some might even find it annoying. If this still hasn’t gotten through to you, think about this question. What if the show/sport/series that you love get ruined, how would you react to that?
We all know that social media can be powerful. We all know humans can be powerful. So what happens if we combine the two? We get a much bigger impact on our problem and get to the solution faster. If we all go on social media and talk so much about new ways to make the olympics better, the olympic organizers might listen because if that means more people watching, then they will probably try it. There can be other solution but none are as effective as this one and the other solutions aren’t as realistic, such as everyone boycotting the olympics. I find this point very important because this point is one of our solution. If we just ignore the solutions, eventually it will backfire and the olympics will become full of doping athletes and we can say goodbye to one of the biggest sport competitions ever. If this happens, then it is a really sad way to end a great tradition that has been going on for centuries.
Some people who are listening might be thinking, “this is a good speech, but how does it affect the image of the olympics?” I did mention social media right? Since social media is so popular, and people aren’t afraid to express their opinions on it, the users post whatever they want online. Since this is the case, if an athlete dopes, users post bad stuff about the olympics, for example: things like "the olympics is full of cheaters" or "it is a sport for cheaters". If people that don’t know the olympics very well read this, then they will have no intention to watch it anymore and post about it themselves or tell their friends and this makes it look bad. This is the life course of doping in the olympic affects. 1 guy doping can make 100 people not watch this anymore.
In conclusion we need to realise what the power of 1 man can do. 1 man doping can stop 100 people from watching the olympics but 1 man online such as Facebook can stop 1000 people from watching. We should also not let these two people decide on if we want to watch the olympics or not. If everybody focuses on the good part of the olympics, then we’ll realise it is better than the bad part. Just remember to put yourself in their shoes.
